My family is pretty healthy for the most part. I rarely (if ever) get sick, and my husband and kids only get sick 2-3 times a year. Because of our normal robust health, when we DO get sick, we get sick. Big time. As in “crawl under the covers never want to come out” sick. And once we get sick our recovery time can be longer than the average person.
My son has had a few problems with staph infections since we moved to South Carolina in 2006. These infections necessitated trips to the doctor, then long waits in line at our local pharmacy to get the meds. I’ve even been told to come back the next day because the backlog was so long.
Now, we’re fortunate that we don’t have to take any medications on a regular basis, but if I did I’d absolutely NEVER use a local pharmacy. Simply because of those long wait times. I would much rather use an online pharmacy that automatically sends the new refill of my medication every 30 days. Plus, having online prescriptions just seems like a better way to organize and stay accountable with medications, too.
I’m currently involved in a weight loss medical study. I have to go to a doctor’s office every 30 days to get my new bottle of pills. One of the drugs involved in the study is really an anti-depression medication, so I understand the reason for wanting to make sure I only have 30 days worth of pills. And I’m hopeful that if the weight loss drug ever does come on the market that it’ll be available to the online prescription websites so that I don’t have to wait in line. That is, if I still have weight to lose at that point. I’ve lost 28 pounds so far, so with any luck I won’t NEED the prescription after all!

It’s always nice to see a success story, and my mother’s tea shop at Etsy is such an example. My sister and I have been trying to talk her into joining Etsy for quite a while now, and she finally did it in late March. Since that time (that’s less than 2 months) she has sold about 80 items. In less than two months!!! Now THAT is a great success, people.
I’m very excited for her - I know she has enjoyed the additional business.

Remember a couple posts ago I told you about the awesome new keyfob my sister made for me? Well, I went ahead and sent an email around to some of the women in my office with a picture of it, and four of them put in orders for keyfobs! How awesome is that? My sister is very excited to have some confirmation that her keyfobs are popular. There’s one more woman in my office considering placing an order, but she better hurry up quick if she wants it before we go on vacation!!

I love chocolate. Those who know me in real life no that’s not a secret. In fact, those who know me in real life are confident I’m addicted to chocolate. I give it up for Lent every year because it truly is a sacrifice and challenge for me to do so.
I’ve been on a mission to lose weight this year (I’ve lost 29 pounds so far) and one of my temptations is chocolate. However, I’ve realized that when I eat chocolate in moderation I don’t feel guilty about it. And when I don’t feel guilty, I don’t go crazy and eat MORE chocolate. I don’t know what made the lightbulb go off in my head, but it has been a lifesaver.
So when I get Chocolate Gifts I don’t freak out anymore. My husband gave me chocolate for Valentine’s Day and I was actually able to wait until after Lent to dig into it. That NEVER would have happened before I committed to be better about my chocolate consumption!
Plus, I love giving chocolate to other people - since I love it so much, it feels nice to give it to other people and share MY love for something. I know that sounds cheesy, but it’s totally true.

Last night I received the key fob that I ordered from my sister. I was sick of wearing a shoelace around my neck in order to get in and out of my building at work. So I emailed her and asked her to make me a pretty bracelet to use instead.
It’s PERFECT. And I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on it today. I have a feeling I’ll be contacting my sister to make more in the future as word gets out that they can be custom made. Because the women around here HATE the shoelace-around-the-neck thing.

My daughter loves to wear tights. She gets dressed in costumes a lot, and almost always it includes leggings of some sort. She only has a couple pair, and she wears them so often that they are filled with runs and holes and can never be worn out in public.
If she keeps up with this love affair with Tights I’ll probably start investing in some really cute fun ones when she’s a bit older (and taller) that she CAN wear to school and church.
The problem is that we’re heading into summer and she keeps insisting on playing in tights. I predict come July she’ll be pretty miserable and I can easily see her ripping them to shreds in an effort to cool down. But then fall will come upon us and I’ll be able to splurge and get her some cute new tights for the wintertime. She’ll be in heaven!

Okay, so here are some pictures of the new lovey that I made. It measures about 22″x22″ - much larger than some of the other loveys that I have made. As you can see, it uses the super-soft yellow minky dot fabric on one side, and a regular fleece on the other that features a multi-colored alphabet. It’s pretty cute and a NICE sized lovey.
